Transitioning to I Can from I Can't Sharon L Burton 9781365084256 Books

I am a manager, mentor, and a supervisor and find that Transitioning to I CAN From I Can't is a great read and even better coaching tool. The book is written in plain language and does not have the headiness that some books of this nature. It is an easy read but with a powerful message. Too often employees create false limits on themselves only to find later (if at all) that they were held back by themselves. The book has 12 powerful stories that illustrated how real people overcame adversity and negative feelings to reach success. As it has a work-book quality about it, the book offers the reader/user to write copious notes in the book for future reflection. I recommend this book for any mentor, coach, supervisor or any one that leads others so that they can be better equipped to overcome the challenges that life throws at you. I have heard the author, Dr. Burton, speak before and find her approach to be pragmatic and practical. Her book reflects the charm of a grandmother and the wit of a great grand mother, and the knowledge of a keen businesswoman!

Transitioning to I Can from I Can't Sharon L Burton 9781365084256 Books Reviews

Dr. Burton does a great job at explaining how any goal you decide to accomplish, can be done by creating a plan and following clear cut steps. The book is written in a format that is easily understood and has areas to take notes and do exercises to continue through with the process. This is a book that can be used both personally and professionally. It is a great resource for professional development as well. I commend Dr. Burton and highly recommend this book for those of you willing to move forward in their lives.
This book was recommended by a good friend who shared some of the stories from the book. I now read the book alongside my daily devotional. This book is so inspirational and enlightening. The real life stories that are told by the author provides raw, truth, and real life struggles that many readers can relate and understand. The book is so easy to read that you find yourself deeply immersed in the book while curled up on the couch. Transitioning to I can from I can't is a great book for a book club list.
I have heard the author speak and watched her turn rooms around with her conviction and insight. She is clearly a "get it done" person with the distinct and uinique ability to reach people deep in their psyche and nudge them in the direction of achievement. Her clear thinking on the topics of motivation, progress, goal and milestone setting are enlightening. Now thinking of it, I actually don't know of any organization (commercial or governmental) that would not do well to have their staff read this book. Or better yet, have her address your staff in workshop or seminar format and offer the book as a take-home roadmap for them to follow. I don't know about others, but I took notes all through my reading and even stuck 3x5 cards up on my mirror as milestone reminders. Thanks to the author, I now actually feel guilty if a day goes by where I haven't made progress on one of my overall life goals. Ill be buying a half dozen copies to send on to my family members.
Collecting interests and mentored past experiences by wave, Dr. Sharon L. Burton distributes and collaborates ideas from past experiences into the transition of becoming a better professional. This book translates past experiences from many professionals into several cases where a road block existed. Every person highlighted in this book was able to overcome adversity, yet also hold true to their beliefs and foundation.

This book created a specific value to my interest as I was able to see how others had struggled yet I was able to pass over obstacles and surroundings. This book has helped me better understand what career moves and motives I need to make in order to successfully get over a road block or hill. This book also renews several disciplines that all wrap around coaching and mentorship. I believe this book is a strategically acclimated book that will help many professionals see a different light in their obstacles and practices.
